As we look back on our Body Electric history this May, our hearts are full. We are reflecting on a legacy of transformation: a lineage of play, depth, and radical self-expression that continues to thrive today.
This August, we are thrilled to gather at Easton Mountain for a week-long intensive that was deeply close to the heart of our beloved Steve Schwartzberg: “Creativity, Ritual, & The Erotic Impulse.” Steve’s vision was rooted in the belief that our erotic energy is our primary life force. The same spark that fuels a dancer’s leap or a painter’s brushstroke. This upcoming event is a living tribute to that vision, led by the very practitioners Steve chose to carry the torch.
A Heartfelt Tribute: Mountaine on Steve’s Legacy
In honoring Steve, we are moved by the words of Mountaine Jonas, whom Steve personally asked to co-facilitate this experience. Their collaboration is a testament to the trust and shared vision that defines the BE family.
“When Steve approached me about co-facilitating this intensive, I was pleased and honored to say a hearty YES. Steve knew of my work with playback theatre for many years, and thought it would make a great addition to a retreat focusing on the marriage of creativity and eros. I followed his end-of-life process closely, was very inspired by it, and will be donating my facilitation fee to Body Electric in Steve’s memory.” — Mountaine
The Journey Ahead: Merging Life Force and Art
As facilitator Lui Gervais shares, this work is about reconnecting with the very core of our power:
“Life Force Energy is creative energy. Over time, as we build, circulate, and harness our Life Force, we slowly build a reservoir of energy for creativity. The Body Electric School is in the business of bringing this vital source of power back into alignment. Harnessing it like water from a spring to irrigate our health and wholeness. Connecting our erotic work with our creative expression is in many ways remembering a vital understanding. Celebrating the natural design of being shamelessly, erotically empowered with manifesting the ideas that flow through us. Creativity and sexuality may not seem related, but by the end of Creativity, Ritual and the Erotic Impulse, participants will understand how to grow and merge these two vital parts of themselves and their pleasures into a singular, felt, functional understanding.” — Lui Gervais
Guided by our world-class team, you’ll explore three distinct tracks of self-discovery:
- Playback Theater with Mountaine Jonas: Step into the world of improvisational theater. Mountaine helps you unlock your voice and transform personal stories of intimacy and vulnerability into live, shared theater.
- Movement & Embodiment with Louis Gervais: A professional dancer and ritual-maker, Lui leads you to release shame and connect with the landscape. Whether it’s a spontaneous dance on the hills or improvisation by the pond, movement becomes your ritual of liberation.
- Visual Arts Exploration with Craig Cullinane: Through the lens of Sparks of Genius, Craig invites you to play. It is never too late to discover your creative self! Experiment with color and form as a gateway to deeper erotic and spiritual connection.
The Power of Being Seen
When we step into the ritual of theater, dance, or art, we reveal a part of ourselves that longs to be seen. It’s an alchemical process, within which vulnerability becomes strength. By sharing our light with the community, we not only change how others see us, but also how we see ourselves.
As we honor Steve this month, we celebrate the bridge he built between our history and our future. Join us in August to keep that spirit soaring.
Are you ready to unlock your creative and erotic potential? Come as you are. Leave with a deeper sense of aliveness and a closer connection to your authentic self.
