Becoming an Ambassador for The Body Electric School isn’t just about holding a title—it’s about becoming a living voice for a journey that transforms you from the inside out. For most folx, the adventure starts with Celebrating the Body Erotic, the school’s foundational 101 course. Many walk through the doors simply looking for connection, healing, or a safer place to explore who they are.

Whether that looks like a deeper connection with your sexuality, eros, or gender expression, letting your true self be seen makes you far more capable of being authentically present for others.
From Participant to Active Creator
Many Ambassadors join the program out of a simple, beautiful impulse: They want to share what Body Electric has meant in their lives. By taking the Ambassador Workshop, they learn how to weave their personal story into a compelling narrative and step into an active role within the community.
The program offers a practical, supportive space to find your authentic voice. You gain a deeper understanding of the school’s mission, values, and vision, but more importantly, you realize you aren’t just taking courses anymore—you are actively co-creating the environment.
That active participation often transforms into practical service:
- Assisting at Workshops: Supporting participants as they navigate their own first experiences.
- Local Coordination: Working alongside regional coordinators, or stepping up to organize local workshops yourself.
- Expanding Access: Bringing these transformative practices to new communities that might not otherwise encounter them.
This pathway turns learners into leaders, moving people from receiving the work to helping make it possible for others.
Bringing Communal Healing to the Streets
At its core, The Body Electric School is dedicated to communal healing, and Ambassadors bring that spirit directly into their local neighborhoods. They make the work visible, approachable, and integrated into everyday life.
In the St. Louis area, for instance, Ambassadors attend local Pride events, setting up booths to share information about upcoming workshops, the school’s mission, and its commitment to healing. This isn’t just about circulating pieces of paper—It’s about initiating genuine human connection. It lets people know there are spaces where they will be welcomed, seen, and embraced exactly as they are.
Ambassadors also foster ongoing local connection by hosting community gatherings, such as:
- Practice Spaces: Creating low-pressure environments to revisit practices, such as “Gourmet Hugs” (a favorite from the 101 course).
- Taster Events: Hosting Taste of the Body Erotic events (both in-person and online), with guest facilitators, so curious newcomers can try the work.
- Alumni Gatherings: Keeping the local network active so alumni can practice consensual touch, boundary setting, and clear communication in everyday life.
These events prove that healing doesn’t end when a weekend workshop closes—it continues in the relationships and networks we build together.
Shaping the Future of the Movement
This deep commitment reaches all the way to the highest levels of leadership within The Body Electric School. Many members of the Board of Directors started as Ambassadors and completed the Ambassador Workshop.
Their leadership is rooted in real, personal experience. They donate their time to strategically grow the school, strengthen its core values, and widen the circle of radical inclusion. Because they have walked the path themselves, their stewardship ensures the institution stays grounded in the human heart of its mission.
