The one story that anyone who transitions shares is the profound internal work and examination of how we may exist authentically with our gender identity. We each have faced unique experiences, challenges, joys, and sorrows in the profound work of being able to see ourselves, navigating in the larger world, and even how our bodies work.
Transitioning is a powerful form of self care and deep examination of one’s relationship to the body one is in, the body that is desired, and the world in which that body exists.
For many of us, transformations include hormones or surgical procedures in expression of your authenticity. Changes mean whole new ways the body works, experiences pleasure, and navigates emotions. A lifetime of learning how to make a body work suddenly no longer meets the needs of your new body. We are not given a manual for our new bodies and what information there is too often from a clinical or cisgender perspective. We need our shared experiences more than ever.
This workshop will provide an exploration and celebration of the journey that we have taken in discovering the hidden joys available to who we are now. We will re-examine how pleasure may be experienced, offer healing from the years of struggle, and give each other the tools to find wholeness, even ecstasy, within our bodies as we had always wished we could.
Discussions and exercises will examine how our lives have changed within society and within ourselves. Activities will explore the changes in our bodies that come from medical transition (hormones, surgery, etc.) from the celebrated to the unexpected. Together we will co-create an experience that brings a richer understanding of our erotic self and that magic that being transgender creates.
This class is for anyone who identifies as transgender, regardless of where you are on your journey. If medical transition is in your past, in your future, or not part of your plan, you are welcome.
